Carly called today quite upset that her father is giving her a bit of a "cold shoulder". I think the problem has been caused by me not seeking his "permission" before asking her to be my wife on Tuesday last week. I didn't avoid asking Bob out of spite but more out of uncertainty. I had planned 4 different times in which I might propose over a 6 month period, and plan number one ended up following through. When I talked to Bob on Sunday afternoon he was less than enthusiastic about the way I went about it. I explained my actions to him and agreed that we need to discuss "things" when we come to visit in July, but my main concern is for Carly's happiness and while I would like Bob and Nancy to be happy for us it really is secondary to "our" happiness. I really hope we can work things out and have a plesant relationship with her family.
